With all its intricacies, history seems to have been the mortar for every brick and stone that has built Shimla. Most amazing thing about Shimla is Construction in the Hilly Area is an art of Engineering.

Note:  If possible travel in train from Kalka station. Because experience of this will be one of amazing. Toy train is one of the attraction of the Shimla. (We missed this, but must enjoy your journey through that. :) ) The railways route from Kalka to Shimla, with more than 806 bridges and 103 tunnels, was touted as an engineering fear and came to be known as the "British Jewel of the Orient".


Place to visit in Shimla
  • Christ Church : Situated on The Ridge, Christ Church is the second oldest church in the Northern India. It has a very majestic appearance and inside there are stained glass windows which represent faith, hope, charity, fortitude patience and humility. Tip: Timing of closing is late evening(around 7 PM maximum).
  • Jakhu Hill: 2 km from Shimla, at a height of 8000ft., Jakhu Hill is the highest peak an offers a beautiful view of the town and of the snow-covered Himalayas. At the top of the Hill, is an old temple of Lord Hanuman, which is also the home of countless playful monkeys waiting to be fed by all the visitors(We also fed to it). Tip: I am not recommending this place, because this place is not so enjoyable only temple. You can avoid this.
  • Shimla State Museum: The Museum, which was opened in 1974, has tried to protect hill-out and the cultural wealth of the state. There is a collection of miniature Pahari paintings, sculptures, bronzes wood carving and also costumes, textiles and jewelry  of the region. Tip: Museum is timing is around 9/10 AM to 6PM. So, visit it before its time. :)
  • Kufri: 16 km from Shimla, at a height of 8,600 ft., Kufri is the local winter sports center, and here you will find mountain covered with snow and some telescopic view. Tip: Do telescopic view, because there are 7-8 points which are really nice. (Must do bargaining in rates)
  • Naldehra: 22 km from Shimla, with a nine-hole Naldehra Gold Club. The annualSipi fair in June is held in Naldehra. Tip:If you love golfing then you will like this place.
